Maintaining Four Lakes That Support the Resort Experience

At an RV resort, lakes help establish the atmosphere of the property. They provide waterfront views, attract wildlife, complement walking areas, and create a peaceful setting for seasonal guests and year-round residents.

Since 2011, Gulf Coast Aquatics has provided monthly lake management services for an RV resort and campground in Southwest Florida. Our team maintains four large community lakes through aquatic weed control, algae management, shoreline vegetation maintenance, and routine inspections.

The Challenge

Unlike a typical residential community, an RV resort regularly welcomes new visitors who spend significant time outdoors. The lakes remain highly visible from campsites, roads, walking areas, and common spaces. Algae, shoreline grasses, Baby Tears, and seasonal aquatic vegetation can therefore affect the guest experience quickly.

Florida’s warm climate and frequent rainfall allow aquatic plants to grow throughout much of the year. Routine inspections may also identify submerged vegetation such as Hydrilla or Southern Naiad, as well as floating plants such as duckweed or watermeal, before they become more extensive.

Our Approach

Every monthly visit begins with a complete inspection of all four lakes.

Our maintenance program includes:

Because each lake receives different sunlight, runoff, and surrounding landscape inputs, treatments are adjusted to current conditions instead of applying one uniform treatment plan.

Why Water Features Matter at RV Resorts

Guests often select a resort based partly on its outdoor environment.

Well-maintained lakes help create attractive views and reinforce the welcoming atmosphere residents expect. Consistent maintenance also reduces the chance that algae or vegetation problems become especially noticeable during the resort’s busiest periods.

Since 2011, our team has developed an understanding of the recurring shoreline and vegetation conditions unique to the property, allowing maintenance to become more proactive over time.
